The arrival of our Indian guests was a huge event for our school. It was the first time for us to receive guests from Asia. Our students waited impatiently to meet the representatives of another culture.

It was a pity that our Indian guests only stayed in Tallinn for 3 days. To make their stay more comfortable, a hostel “Old House” was booked, which is situated in the Old City, so that the students could take long walks in the evenings in the Old City and buy Estonian souvenirs.



The students also had an excursion around the school guided by students from the 10th grade (gymnasium), who were also their partners in the project. Our guests were also offered an opportunity to communicate with their relatives and friends via the Internet in our computer class.



At the same time, the Indian students also attended several lessons during the classes. They were especially interested in the lesson of maths because many of them are strong in this subject.

During their visit, a bus excursion around the city was organised for them, accompanied by our Estonian students. The weather during their stay in Finland was sunny but during their first day in Estonia, they got acquainted with the typical weather in Baltic countries: rainy and windy. Owing to weather conditions, we had to reschedule our pedestrian excursion around the Old City. In the evening students from India had some free time to walk around the old City. An excursion to the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre was organised, where our guests were able to see the sound recording studio, class-rooms, library and so forth.



The itinerary included a guided pedestrian excursion around the old City where our guests were able to see the unique towers of our Old City, the Upper City, the Dome Church, the Town Hall and other places of interest (The Tallinn Old Town is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and Cultural Capital of Europe 2011).

 

The visit was very fruitful and memorable for both our guests and our students.  We will definitely continue our communication via the virtual environment and we hope to extend our fruitful partnership next year in the new AEC projects.
