The sixth installment of the AEC-NET Conference was co-organised from 9 to 13 October 2006 in Kerkini, Serres Prefecture, in collaboration with the Gymnasium of Livadia, supported by the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia; the Hellenic Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and the European Commission.
The 4.5 days Conference in Kerkini, Serres Prefecture gathered a total of 80 secondary and high school teachers and educators 28 ASEM countries in Asia and Europe to initiate and/or participate in collaborative ICT projects.
A total of 25 new projects were evolved at the end of the Conference, and seven out of twelve AEC Projects completed from the last Conference in Beijing, China, in September 2005 received much support to be continued.

As with preceding Conferences, the AEC-NET conferred AEC Awards on three of
the shortlisted AEC Projects. The winning groups of the AEC Award 2006 were “Cultural Kaleidoscope 2006”, “Local Traditions and Ceremonies”, and “Mastering Media”. These three groups involved five, thirteen, and six secondary and high
schools from Asia and Europe respectively.
The Excellence Awards were also conferred to the other three shortlisted projects contending for the AEC Award, namely “Eco-Cultural Tourism”; “Foodfest@VirtualHomestay” and “The World in a Book 2005”. |
